Reviews
Reviews of the latest release on Earthrid, the debut album by Abominations of Yondo (available on CD and as a free download).
"Abominations Of Yondo remains engaging throughout, easily grabbing the listener's attention and imagination, taking him on a vivid aural journey." - Connexion Bizarre (full review)
"I was expecting something dark... and it is, but it is more... much more. I can't quite describe how much I love this album. It feels right. It's how ambient music should be: accessible but with depth; immersive and other-worldly. This is a fantastic example of head music - music that conjures up pictures, thoughts, ideas through the nuances of sound... Truly beautiful." - Headphonaught's Nanolog (full review)
"A good solid ambient album, with a sense of depth and atmosphere befitting the cosmic menace of the stories that inspired it" - Heathen Harvest (full review)

New release: Abominations of Yondo
Earthrid is pleased to announce the release of the album Abominations of Yondo, the result of a collaboration between Cousin Silas (releases on Earth Monkey, Fflint Central and Earthrid) and Kevin Busby (of Carya Amara, Audio Space Research etc.). Abominations of Yondo is a collection of other-worldly music, sounds and atmospheres inspired by the writings of Clark Ashton Smith, whose weird tales ranged in location from deserts concealing bizarre abominations to distant planets, and in temporal setting from the ancient continent of Hyperborea to Zothique, the last remaining land of a far future age.
The album is available to buy on CD or can be downloaded as MP3s for free. Or both!

Connexion Bizarre reviewed the previous Earthrid release, by Cousin Silas:-
"Cousin Silas admits being inspired by the bizarre writings of H.P. Lovecraft, and it's a thrill to hear a musician really get it right. The sense of dread, suspense and imminent danger is only lifted when clearly intentional - on tracks like 'Looking Back' and 'Leaving Solaris' - and the album ends on an electronic high note with the title track that truly brings closure to the journey. ... a surprising discovery and a fascinating journey, indeed"
The full review appears on the Connexion Bizarre site, or see our page about the album for more details.
The Belgian magazine Gonzo (circus) also reviewed the album, calling it "an enjoyable accompaniment to our ultimate journey". The full review appeared in this print magazine (published in the Flemish language). |
